How to really have Beautiful Shiny Healthy Hair
by Christine Awram

Take Stock of your Locks

Years ago I used to have dull, damaged, lifeless hair.

It was incredibly frustrating. I’d try different shampoos, conditioners, expensive salon treatments, hot oil packs … you name it, I tried it. Nothing worked.

Every day was a bad hair day.

Then I discovered two critical pieces that gave me the shiny healthy hair I have today:

1) Hair Health must be mega-nourished from the inside with mega-nutrients, and

2) Most hair products contain toxic petrochemicals, alcohol, artificial fragrances and synthetics that suffocate scalp and hair from the outside, so they ironically can create more damage in the long run AND contribute to hair loss.

Ouch! No wonder I wasn’t getting anywhere.

So I switched gears. Once I started beautifying myself from the inside out and using the best nurturing hair care products I could find (and I did a lot of research on this), the results were fabulous.

I've shared the following tips with thousands of women, and they now have more beautiful healthy hair … with "side effects" of more radiant skin and stronger nails, plus tons more energy and vitality.

Looking AND feeling great – what a combo!

From the Outside In

Whatever you topically apply to your hair and scalp is clearly going to affect it. Especially because hair products are used every single day. It’s amazing what we glop onto our hair, thinking it’s helping when it’s actually suffocating.

But the piece that makes me cringe is what has happened to our simple shampoos and conditioners. We may already know that some of the other chemical stuff could be problematic, but who would suspect that innocent-looking bottle of shampoo?

Go check the ingredient list on your shampoo bottle right now. See all those hard-to-pronounce ingredients with lots of syllables, dashes and numbers? Most are synthetics and petrochemicals (petro=petroleum).

One of the biggest offenders, in my opinion, is Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate (aka SLS), which you’ll find in your shampoo (as well as bath products and toothpaste). You use your haircare and personal care products every single day of your life.

SLS is a cheap detergent. But get this … it was designed as a garage floor cleaner and engine degreaser. Yuck! It can also alter your skin structure, allowing other chemicals to penetrate deeper into the skin and ultimately into your bloodstream. And where does your blood go? Everywhere!

If you don't believe me when I say that your skin isn't the deflecto-shield you might think it is, then I invite you to try the Garlic Test at home. Chop up some garlic very fine, then stand on it in your bare feet. Within minutes, you will taste garlic in your mouth. Yes, really.

Everything you put on your skin, will leach into your body. Great news, if you're using great ingredients. Bad news if you're not.

Day after day, year after year, your cells are becoming increasingly saturated with toxicity from something you have no clue can be energy, health and beauty-zapping ... especially combined with the hundreds of other chemicals we get bombarded with every day.

And that burns my butt!

The hair care industry is huge. We’re talking billions of dollars. It's a very competitive business, and big profit margins keep the shareholders happy. Believe me, I have nothing against making a profit. However, in my informed and outspoken opinion, putting ingredients like SLS in most haircare products (and the bulk of personal care products, for that matter) is about what’s cheapest vs. what’s good for you.

It deeply saddens me to see multi-millions of dollars spent on marketing and advertising, without real substance to back it up.

Especially at the cost of your optimal health, energy and beauty.

There's good news of course ... because there's always good news! The solution is easy, once you’re aware of this. Simply make sure you use hair care products that don’t have all those petrochemicals and synthetics in them. There’s not many of these high-calibre products, but they do exist. My personal favourite brand is Curelle, available at most health food stores. Brian Curelle actually lives in Vancouver, so not only are you getting a fabulous product, you're supporting your community.

From the Inside Out

Your hair is about 97% protein, so its health is in direct proportion to your nutrient levels (just like the rest of your body). Protein provides the building blocks of strong hair, and Collagen is the main protein in ALL connective tissues in your entire body – it keeps your trillions of cells together.

Healthy beautiful hair absolutely depends on an abundant supply of blood, oxygen and nutrients. Otherwise, the price you pay is dull weak hair with excess breakage and fallout ... not to mention lower energy levels and fatigue!

Optimal therapeutic dosages of the following key nutrients are crucial to turbo-charge the trillions of cells in your body, and to provide the foundation for beautiful healthy hair. Here are some of the reasons why:

Buffered Vitamin C
Keep it together with a minimum of 1000mg/day Buffered Vitamin C with citrus bioflavanoids (this means Calcium Ascorbate, NOT cheap ascorbic acid). Optimal Buffered Vitamin C helps regenerate collagen, for more beautiful skin, hair and nails.

11 B-Vitamin Family
With our faster-paced and higher-stress lifestyles, the 11 B-vitamin family at optimal dosages become more important than ever ... not just for healthy hair, but for avoiding senility and memory loss. Most supplements don't have the complete B family or the amounts are ridiculously low - send me an Email for a FREE Consumer Report on how to read supplement labels.

A & E ... not always Arts & Entertainment!
Vitamin A (minimum 5,000 IU/day) and natural Vitamin E from d-alpha-tocopherol (minimum 400 IU/day, preferably 800IU) are key for lovely locks, and again for great skin and nails.

Ionic & Trace Minerals
Did you know your vitamins don’t work without minerals? Minerals help transport the vitamins into your cells, so it's important to know that your vitamins are just about useless if you don't combine them with all your minerals. And your minerals also need to be in a form that can be easily absorbed, which means Ionic minerals.

Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids
Without your Omega-3 (at least 360mg EPA and 240mg DHA), hair is destined to become dry and dull. The benefits of Omega-3 are vast - you have trillions of cells, and the membranes of those cells are made up of fat. Omega-3 supports a healthy membrane, for great hair/skin/nails. Plus it keeps you smart, helps prevent heart disease and avoid depression. Do not supplement with Omega-6, just pure Omega-3.

MSM
A very versatile nutrient that helps regenerate just about everything, and its benefits are legendary. 2000mg/day will support beautiful hair, as well as ease inflamed joints and keep you looking/feeling young with supple soft skin and less wrinkling. It also makes your cells more "permeable", meaning that all the other nutrients you take will absorb better into your cells along with the MSM.

Extra Antioxidant Protection
Besides Vitamins A, C, E, the carotenoids and citrus bioflavanoids, one of my top picks is Green Tea Extract (without caffeine). This potent nutrient provides a form of antioxidant called cathechin polyphenols, for top-knotch free radical protection. It also boosts metabolism without stimulating your adrenals, a real bonus.

Bamboo Silica
This deserves a good word, as silica is in all connective tissue (along with collagen). How strong that tissue is depends on how strong the collagen is and how much silica it contains. Adding Bamboo Silica will help strengthen your connective tissue.

Putting it all together

The above list can look rather intimidating, and you may be asking yourself, "Do I need to have 20 bottles of supplements to get everything I need?" The answer is "Not necessarily." If you are interested in a simple and convenient optimal nutrition system that will give you everything you need and more, plus a FREE Consumer Report, please send me an email and I'd be happy to make my recommendations.

Action Steps for Beautiful Hair

Blow dry your hair when it’s partially dry, not soaking wet.

If you use a styling brush, ensure it has a ceramic vs metal base.

Apply a natural build-up remover on your hair once every week or two (I love Curelle).

Buy ONLY natural hair care products without SLS and other chemicals (read the list of common ingredients to watch for in my FREE eReport, available from the Home page).

Install a water purifier on your shower head - about $25 in any hardware dept.

Consume less sugar, dairy, starch, preservatives and animal fat.

Eat 2 cups of veggies per day and more whole foods and wild fish.

Drink your water! Minimum half-ounce per lb of bodyweight (eg, 150lbs = 75oz).

Turbo-charge your cells daily with therapeutic dosages of ALL the nutrients listed above.
