THE STORY OF MOO COW KITTY

Moo Cow Kitty started visiting my sister’s house last December. Her son (my nephew) had been asking for a cat, but she wasn’t yet entirely convinced. When asked, she said her ideal cat would be a Visiting Cat. And then along came Moo Cow Kitty.

No one knew where he came from or what his name was. He’d obviously been well cared for … a glossy coat and rhinestone collar indicated he was no stray. His furry little face would pop up over the bottom pane of the French doors, and in he’d waltz like he owned the place.

My nephew started calling him Buddy, but his markings were so much like a black and white jersey cow that I dubbed him Moo Cow Kitty.

Before long, the visits became more frequent. My sister started buying cat food and extra cream. On one visit I saw there was now a scratching post in the den, and the next visit saw a litterbox. Moo Cow Kitty was occasionally spending the night.

It was becoming obvious that while this might be his favourite stopping place, it certainly wasn’t his only one. Where did Moo Cow Kitty go when he wasn’t at my sister’s? It became a big mystery and topic of hot debate.

In the meantime, Moo Cow Kitty decided to start paying the occasional midnight visit, and would show up at the bedroom windows during the wee hours. This probably doesn’t sound particularly interesting, but there’s a piece to visualize.

All the bedrooms are on the second floor. And my sister’s house has an extremely steep roof. We’re talking Triple Black Diamond Run steep, with no obvious way of getting onto the roof in the first place. Even for a clever cat.

So here’s this acrobatic furface, balanced precariously on a narrow window ledge. If he makes one wrong move it’s down and over the edge to the jagged rocks below. You can hear him coming … his claws are somehow finding traction on the slippery steep tiles. We very carefully open the window, and in hops the cat. Like it’s all a day at the beach.

The mystery deepens. Is this even a real cat? He looks like a cow (albeit a skinny one) and has claws like a bear. Moo Cow Grizzly Kitty.

Visits by Moo Cow Kitty are becoming ever-increasingly frequent. I now see cat brushes and cat treats on the shelf during my latest visits.

Then one day my sister goes to pick up the mail, and on the side of the mailbox is a Lost poster … with a picture of Moo Cow Kitty front and centre. Except his name is apparently Jesse.

It turns out he started his residence down the street with another family, but they haven’t seen him in awhile. I can understand why he prefers my sister’s house … the other place is filled with children and dogs, while Moo Cow Kitty gets gourmet food and undivided loving attention here.

The little girl from down the street came to collect "Jesse", and carted him away. His adorable little cow-face looked longingly back at us as she abducted him. And fifteen minutes later, he was back on the doorstep calmy washing his face.

We summed it up as: “We don’t pick the cat … the cat picks us.”

So my nephew’s desire for a cat to lavish love and attention on has been fulfilled, and my sister’s desire for a Visiting Cat has also unfolded. How cool is that? And if the little girl down the street wants to spend time with Jesse (even though she has a menagerie at home), she’s welcome to come and visit any time.

Seems to me this has worked out amazingly well for everyone. Especially Moo Cow Kitty.

What does this have to do with Longevity?

Anyone who has heard me speak at a seminar, or has read my articles for any length of time, knows that I frequently refer to what I call the “Law Of Attention”.

Whatever we put our attention on, it grows. The universe doesn’t "reason" things out, or distinguish between what’s “good” or “bad” for us. It just responds to where we put our energy and attention, and gives us more of that.

My nephew put his attention on having a cat. My sister put her attention on having a Visiting Cat. The universe responded.

When your goal is exceptional Health, Vitality & Happiness, that’s where I invite you to put most of your attention. Not on the extra pounds you might be carrying, or a health challenge you’re having, or how tired you are. Embrace what you do have with gratitude, and put your attention on what you choose to create next.

Get into the FEELING of it, and keep the faith that you are completely capable of attracting whatever you choose. Visualize it, see it, feel it, taste it. And marinate yourself in Love and Gratitude.

Then keep your eyes peeled for your Moo Cow Kitty.
