Drop Dead Gorgeous

Written by Christine Awram

"Drop Dead Gorgeous. Beauty to Die For. Killer Smile."

Don't you find these slogans rather odd, linked with your health and beauty programs?
I mean really.

Find out how to look and FEEL your best - naturally, easily, joyfully and with grace - with no death or murder in the process (how absurd!). Snorting with laughter here (yes, the rumours are true, I've been caught snorting in public while laughing, and it was actually caught on film - I am SO busted!). LOL

Here are the four cornerstones of Healthy Happy Living:

According to me that is ...

  • Radiant Appearance (skin and hair)
  • Vital Energy (mind and body)
  • Abundance (so much more than money)
  • Soul-fullness (personal joy and satisfaction)

These four areas are intertwined, of course. Imagine a mobile hanging over a baby's crib. If you touch just one part of the mobile, the entire thing moves. So it is with the four cornerstones - affect one, and you affect them all.

So really, we can start anywhere.

Today's article is on Radiant Appearance. Why? Because it's the beginning of the year, and everyone's in extra-high motivation. And it happens to be something I know a lot about. I'd like to make a few things easier for you, so you can see your results manifesting in record time!

Radiant Appearance for Gorgeous Skin & Hair

I generally put gorgeous skin and hair together, because the basic principles for both of them (and nails, for that matter) are very similar.

"Having A Bad Hair Day?" is an article I've previously written, and is just a click away. Go HERE to find out if you've been inadvertently washing your hair with garage floor cleaner and an engine degreaser, and then discover the simple steps to beautiful, shiny, healthy hair.

Ahem, why are you still here?
GO READ THE HAIR ARTICLE and come back! LOL :)
Did I mention that humour and laughter are key ingredients for a healthy happy luscious life?

OK, now that you're back, let's take what you've learned about hair and apply it to your skin.

Optimal Nutrition principles remain the same (the inside stuff), and the concept of what you put on your SCALP also applies to what you put on your SKIN (the outside stuff).

Go have a look at the ingredient list of what's in your skincare products. Yes, right now. Grab your moisturizer or cleanser and look at the fine print on the back. Aarrgghh!

When you look at an ingredient list of a product going on your body, ask yourself, "Would I EAT these ingredients?" If the answer is NO, then it has no business going on your skin.

If you've already read my complimentary eReport, I've given you a starter list of ingredients to watch out for in your personal care products, and why they are harmful and ironically speeding up the aging process. If you haven't read this invaluable eReport (all modesty aside), just go to the Wellpro Home page and subscribe for instant access to great tips on slowing cellular aging and creating maximum energy and gorgeousness. It's an easy read.

Most skincare products are actually messing with your skin!

Have you ever wondered why, when you try a new skincare line and it seems to work great, that it stops working so great after a few months? Or why annoying little mystery skin problems crop up? Or why you want a nap in the middle of the afternoon? Or why you want to rip your husband's face off when you get your monthly cycle?

OK, there's more than one factor involved. But who would suspect that those innocent-looking bottles of haircare and skincare products might be contributing to this?

As just one example, if you start examining skincare ingredient labels, it's highly likely you're going to see at least one Paraben listed (eg, Parabens, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, etc).

Parabens show endocrine (hormone) disruption at low doses, neurotoxic effects in moderate doses, are a potential carcinogen, and ironically a skin irritant. Ouch!

How bizarre is that?

We use our personal care products every single day, and through their usage will absorb an ingrededient every day that can disrupt hormones, aggravate the nervous system, irritate the skin, and allow other chemicals to penetrate deeper. This is just bizarre to me.

It's also an area of great controversy, and I have no problem wading in and stirring the pot when it comes to your Health & Happiness. That's what I'm here for! This has been such an unregulated industry, and slow to change.

But rest assured that it IS changing - and this is about awareness, with the option for simple healthier choices that will have you looking and feeling more fabulous than ever. Keep reading, because I've got some easy and powerful guidelines for you to follow.

Remember, I've said it before and I'll say it again: It's NOT about a one-time application of these ingredients. Think about it. Every single day you use some combination of shampoo, conditioner, gel, hairspray, facial cleanser, toner, moisturizer, body cream, soap, deodorant, toothpaste ... and ALL of them (unless you're already buying all-natural products) have ingredients that are likely compromising your optimal health and energy. This doesn't even count cosmetics and fragrances.

Products that are supposed to be helping you be healthier and more beautiful.
The sheer illogic of it drives me a bit nuts sometimes.

So what's a girl to do?

First, don't just take my word for it. There's a fabulous resource available to you from EWG at http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com

EWG is a non-profit research organization out of Washington, DC, focused on safeguarding public health. Their Skin Deep report allows you to do a search on any ingredient, product or brand for skincare, haircare, etc. and get the scoop on how healthy (or not) it is.

This is groundbreaking.
You just type in the ingredient or product, and you get the straight goods.

EWG is about as UNBIASED as it gets. They have nothing to lose OR gain from giving you the straight goods. Their research has already sparked some much-needed change, and as they state:

"Our research brings to light unsettling facts that you have a right to know. It rattles politicians and shapes policy. It persuades bureaucracies to rethink science and strengthen regulation. It provides practical information you can use to protect your family and community. And because our investigations and interactive websites tend to make news, you've probably heard about them. Even if you've never heard of us. Which is fine. We'd rather you remember our work than our name."

Visit the site and judge for yourself.

What's next?

Looking and Feeling Fabulous, for Healthy Happy Luscious Living.

On a personal note, I will add that back when my health and appearance were a mess and I was told I had an incurable eye disease that was going to leave me blind, one of the steps I took was Optimal Nutrition and switching to natural personal care products (including delicious skincare with rejuvenating essential oils). Not only have these simple steps helped transform my own health and happiness, and shaved years off my appearance, but they have profoundly impacted all the clients I work with as well.

The bullet-point Executive Summary of my recommendations for a Radiant Appearance:

  • Whatever you choose, do it with joy!

  • Read the "Having A Bad Hair Day?" article (if you haven't done that yet) to understand this subject more fully, plus it has more Easy Action Steps for Beautiful Hair (and skin/nails).

  • Get your Optimal Nutrition every single day, to super-charge and rejuvenate your trillions of cells. Most supplements in the stores are crap, so let me know if you'd like my further recommendations on this and a FREE Consumer Report on how to read labels on your supplements, too. Send me an Email. Don't flush your money down the toilet.

  • Add 200mg Bamboo Silica and an extra 20,000IU of Vitamin A to your optimal daily program, for even more radiant skin, stronger nails and lustrous hair. Note I say "add", as these supplements alone will have little effect - you need the whole team for real results.

  • If you're a woman who's losing hair, it could also be linked to a subclinical Hypothyroid condition. If you suspect this is the case, try a good Kelp supplement for extra iodine (unless you're on thyroid medication, in which case check with your healthcare provider).

  • Drink your water! At least a half-oz of pure water per lb of body weight (eg, 150lbs=75oz).

  • Eat your veggies! 2 cups per day of fresh (preferably organic) colourful vegetables.

  • Never use plastic or plastic wrap in your microwave - it leaches toxins into your food. Use glass or ceramic.

  • Minimize dairy products - they're a breeding ground for bacteria. Yes, I love cheese too. Note I said minimize, not eliminate. But milk was meant for baby cows, not people.

  • Make a plan for FREE days: sugar-free, wheat-free, dairy-free. (No, not every day, I'm not a sadist). Start with one day a week, see how it feels.

  • Move your body. Get out for a walk. Breathe pure air. Let your body know it's alive. If we were meant to sit all day, we would have been born strapped into little LaZboy chairs. MAKE the time - with joy, because you're worth it.

  • Develop a daily spiritual practice that resonates with you. Nature walks, silence, meditation, yoga, creative visualization, a gratitude journal. Quiet your mind, be still, find your core. This is an extraordinarily powerful way to start each day, and allows your body to find it's ideal balance.

  • Use ONLY all-natural haircare and skincare products (become a label-reader). With your natural skincare, look for products that also include rejuvenating and beautifying essential oils. I'm always happy to recommend Curelle haircare (available at your local health food store), and Saje all-natural skincare with rejuvenating essential oils. They are both excellent, I use them myself every single day.

Remember, your cells are turning over about every 6 weeks. If you make these changes NOW from both the inside (optimal nutrition) and outside (all-natural personal care products), you can expect to see significant changes in just over a month. And the results are cumulative over time.

What great news that you can so easily make healthier and safer choices for you and your family! While looking and feeling fabulous in the process.

And don't forget to read the newly-released Woman Of Worth (WOW) Credo, available HERE. Resonate with your magnificence, and you will always be radiant. It always starts from within.
